Small Players Need To Buy In

Many large hospitals, health care systems and providers have bought into Lean Healthcare as their management system, but I hear about very few smaller organizations practicing Lean. It does not take a large organization to gain substantial benefits from Lean. While Chugachmiut has about $14-16 million in revenue annually, as a Tribal government compactor we operate many other programs in addition to health care. Our regional health care clinic is a small 2-provider clinic. We operate 4 other clinics in small villages. The improvements I have written about are being achieved with a small staff that are pursing a vision they believe in, with tools they have been taught to use, and in a team based, cooperative work place.

Where are the little guys?
