The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) has some pretty stringent accountability requirements. We recently had an audit for our use of ARRA funds in Chugachmiut’s Forestry Program. Staff let me know when the auditors visited, and what has happening. According to 2 separate staff comments, the auditors commented on how complete our records were. The statement reported by one staff was that the auditors have competed audits all over the state of Alaska, and our records were the best managed. Here is the statement made in the audit report regarding records:
For Chugachmiut, outstanding records management is our ever present goal. We meet that goal frequently, so we consider excellence our “business as usual.” I have a wonderful staff, empowered to manage our records with the appropriate training and tools to do so. Did I mention that they are happy, and with each passing day, employee retention improves because of that happiness.
