Dental Standard Work

I had an epiphany this morning. I wrote a post about hydration standard work earlier. Consuming water is a huge boon to long term health. And I have posted about the tremendous success our dental team has had with filling cavities. But I had not thought about Dental Standard Work until this morning. Sometimes solutions are so simple that you overlook it for quite some time.
This epiphany is to use Training WIthin Industry Job Instruction (“JI”) tools to analyze the brushing and oral hygiene process, develop standard work and prepare a job breakdown sheet. We can then teach “proper” oral hygiene by using JI. Brushing, flossing and regular visits to a hygienist are all critical to good oral health, which in turn is critical to general health.
I am still working on how all of the “Healing Standard Work” can be made transparent and visible in a way that encourages compliance with the work. Hydrating in the morning means consuming 20% of you daily water intake within the first hour after waking. Supplementation and good nutrition means eating breakfast and taking necessary supplements. Exercise should occur sometime during the day and the morning is as good a time as any. And finally, when you shower (is there standard work here too?) you can take care of Dental Standard Work while in the bathroom too.
